【摘要】:Thevoidvolumeofacarbonblackexpressedasafunctionofappliedpressure,VV,isacarbonblackstructureproperty.Structureisagenerictermthatisafunctionoftheshapeirregularityanddeviationfromsphericityofcarbonblackaggregates.Thegreateracarbonblackresistscompressionbyhavingsubstantialaggregateirregularityandnon-sphericity,thegreaterthecompressedvolumeandvoidvolume.Also,themorethatacarbonblackresistscompression,thegreatertheenergyrequiredtocompressthesampleperunitvoidvolume.Structure,traditionallymeasuredbyOAN(TestMethodD2414)andCOAN(TestMethodD3493),isapropertythatstronglyinfluencesthephysicalpropertiesdevelopedincarbonblack-elastomercompoundsforuseintires,mechanicalrubbergoods,andothermanufacturedrubberproducts.SeveralstudieswithinD24havedemonstratedthatvoidvolumedatacanbeusedtoestimateOANandCOANnumbersofcarbonblacksusingmathematicalmodelsderivedfromvoidvolume-pressuredataandoilabsorptiondata.Themodelsmayvarydependingonwhetherdynamicorstaticvoidvolumemeasurementsareusedandthenumberandtypesofcarbonblacksincludedwithinamodelingdataset.Ifnecessary,OANandCOANestimatesfromvoidvolumemodelscanalsobenormalizedusingcurrentSRBs(aspracticedinGuideD4821).AnyestimatesofOANorCOANderivedfrompredictionmodelsusingvoidvolume-pressuredatashouldbelabeledappropriately(thatis,TestMethodD6086)toavoidconfusionwithOANorCOANdataobtaineddirectlyfromoilabsorptionmethods.1.1ThistestmethodcoversaproceduretomeasureacarbonblackstructurepropertyknownasVoidVolume.Compressedvoidvolumesareobtainedbymeasuringthecompressedvolumeofaweighedsampleasafunctionofappliedpressureinacylindricalchamberbyamovablepistonwithadisplacementtransduceronthepistonmechanism.Aprofileofvoidvolumeasafunctionofappliedpressureprovidesameanstoassesscarbonblackstructureatvaryinglevelsofdensityandaggregatereduction.1.2Voidvolumeisanimportantcarbonblackstructurepropertythatrelatestothecompoundedphysicalpropertiesforcarbonblack-filledelastomersincludingviscosity,modulus,anddieswell.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
